Practice Words
Two-syllable words with an open first syllable ending in a long vowel sound.
Kit is not on my bed! I open my eyes wide. Where has my sneaky cat gone? Maybe she went outside for a walk. I had better go and find her.
I run outside, still pulling on my shoes. 'Kit!' I call up the path, then down. Only a bird and a dog look at me. I hear a tiny 'mew' behind me, so I spin around, but I only see the gate.
Kit loves to relax on top of this big, blue pot. She naps here all the time, but not today. Is she being sneaky, like a tiger on the prowl?
She is not behind the pot. I am in a total panic. Kit is not in any of her best spots. Where could that tiny cat be?
I search a bush at the back of the house. Maybe Kit is hiding in there. I open up the branches and look, but she is not there either.
I hear a meow! I stay alert and run to the front of the house, looking all around. No, not here. My cat radar is broken today.
Maybe she came back inside. I go to my bedroom and crouch beside the cupboard for a moment. She is so tiny she could fit under there, but I cannot spot her.
I get a stool and stand on top so I can see up high. Kit is not even on top of the cupboard! I cannot relax until I find my cat.
I search my bookshelf and look behind my toys. Sometimes Kit sits in here when I play music, but not today. I am really worried now.
Maybe I should look under my bed. Kit treats it like her own little hotel. I crouch down and peer beneath it.
She is not under there! I have looked and looked, but I cannot find her. I would need a robot to find her now. I will have to call Mum for help.
Wait! There is a bump under the blanket. I lift up the side and find Kit curled up in there. She even has my glasses on her head! That cat and her humour! I am so glad I found her at last.
