Two Tiny Grins UFLI Foundations Lesson 76
Practice Words
Steve steps into a big cave. It is lush and dim inside. He stops at the edge of a pond. Two little pink pals swim in it. 'What are they?' Steve asks.
One little pal hops on land. It sits by Steve, soft and soggy. It looks up with a big grin. 'Well,' says Steve. 'I think Axolotl picks me. My little buddy!'
Steve picks up Axolotl and walks home. He is kind and holds it snug. He sits by his pond. 'Look, buddy! A fresh home!' But Axolotl does not look glad.
'Fine, fine,' says Steve. 'I can fix it.' He gets moss and packs it on the rocks. He tucks moss in all the cracks. Axolotl slips in the pond. It has a big grin. 'Yes!' says Steve. 'Axolotl is happy!'
But Axolotl is a lone pal in the pond. It looks a little sad. So they go back to the cave. There on a ledge, Axolotl spots a white one! Its grin gets so wide. 'That one?' says Steve. 'Fine by me!'
The two little pals swim side by side. They spin and glide in the sunny pond. They bump and huddle and snuggle. They are so happy. 'I did that!' says Steve.
Steve gets a fish in a bucket. 'My friends must see this!' he says. Axolotl pops up just behind him. It has a silly grin. 'Stop that!' says Steve with a smile.
Steve does not go. The pals splash and wiggle and flip. He sits in the grass and looks at them as they play. 'Fine,' says Steve. 'This is the best. My happy little pals!' They all grin. Steve grins most of all.
