No rain today. The sun bursts out at last. Girl runs out by the pink flowers. The wind tugs at her hair. 'What a fine morning!' says Girl. 'Today my kite will fly.'
Kites swirl up in the sky. A big green monster kite. A swift fish kite. Girl grins. 'Fine kites,' says Girl. 'But my kite will be the best. My kite has a troll queen!'
First, do a test. Each side must match. Girl does a test with the ruler. Then the next test. Then a third test. If a side is too long, the kite will hit the dirt. Splat!
Girl has paper, tape and glue. Snip, snip! She cuts out the shapes. A kite must be light but sturdy. Paper is light, so the wind can lift it. No bricks in the sky!
Next, the string. Girl runs with it from room to room. The string twirls and curls. 'This string is so long!' yells Girl. With a long string, the kite can go up so high.
Girl is up on the roof. The wind stirs. Up goes the kite! On it is a pic, a troll queen with a crown and a big smile. 'Fly high, Troll Queen,' says Girl. 'Fly on top of all the kites!'
The kite dips. It turns and it swirls. 'No, no, no!' yells Girl. Then a big gust lifts it. The kite spurts up high, on top of all the kites! 'Go, Troll Queen, go!' yells Girl.
The kite is up so high in the sunset sky. Her pink tails curl and twirl in the wind. She is the queen up there. Come, make a kite too. Paint a brave pic on it. Then let it fly!
