Sneaky Creeps at Daybreak Jolly Phonics · Step 2, Unit 8: ea as in sea
Practice Words
This is Tom. Tom has a bakery. He bakes fresh treats each day. Tom stands by his shop and grins. 'Come and eat!' says Tom. 'My treats are the best.'
But at daybreak, Tom, Jill and The Mage see a big mess. The big helper is smashed to bits. 'No, no!' says Jill. 'This is bleak,' says The Mage. Tom frets. Is his bakery safe?
It is dark. Tom peeks out and scans the land. 'Nasty things sneak in at dark time,' says Tom. 'Do not fret, Tom,' says Dr. Can Do. 'The helpers keep us safe.'
Tom lies in bed. He can not sleep. Sneaky things creep and creep in his head. 'Not my bakery,' says Tom. 'Not my bakery.'
Boom! A big blast! The bakery is in flames. Tom runs up and screams. 'My bakery!' he yells. 'That is it! I will pack up and go!'
Jill pats Tom. 'Stay, Tom. We need the treats. And the man that bakes them!' Dr. Can Do has a plan. 'We can make a big stone wall,' he says. 'Then no nasty thing can reach us.' Tom says, 'Fine.'
The team gets to work. Stone by stone, the wall gets big and strong. Dr. Can Do and The Mage beam at it. 'No nasty thing can sneak in now,' says The Mage.
The new bakery is grand. Jill sets blooms all round it. Tom beams. 'Come and eat!' says Tom. 'A sweet treat for each pal!'
