Practice Words
I am a cat, and this is my home. I sit up on my seat. One kid is on the rug. She makes art of me. Some think I am a pet. They are wrong.
Some think a tub is the best way to get clean. They are wrong. I lick and lick, and I am clean. My kid has to clean the muddy dog in a tub. Splash, splash!
The best spot for a nap is on a lap. All three kids pat me and pat me. I am snug. I sleep, and I dream sweet dreams.
At daybreak, Mom packs up each lunch. She waves to the kids at the gate, and off they go. Then the home is mine. I rest up on the porch, and I plan and dream.
A wee pest sneaks in to eat. Squeak, squeak! I creep up and hide by the wall. I keep still. Some think a pest is too quick for a cat. They are wrong.
I like to play in my yard, as it is all mine. Today I leap up on the short wall. I grip it with my nails. Bugs hide and twist beneath each leaf.
Today I sneak in with a snail. I set it by the pane. Mom squeals and screams. 'No, Cat, no!' she yells. A kid peeks out and grins. Mom thinks a snail is bad. She is wrong.
There is a mean, mean boy. He mocks me and makes a bad face at me. I hiss and snap. See my sharp teeth! He is big, so he thinks he can beat me. He is wrong.
I daydream that I am a big beast. I have long nails and sharp fangs. Then that mean boy will run. Yes, one day I will beat him!
Some cats think outside is best. Three cats peek in at the pane. They are wrong. I am snug at the foot of my kid's bed. My kid sleeps, and so will I. Sweet dreams to us all. This is my home.
