He Has a Cold! UFLI Foundations Lesson 85
Practice Words
Nitwit had a twitch in his nose. His neck felt sore. He did not feel well at all. But was Nitwit going to stay home? No way. 'Fine!' Nitwit told his chum at the bell. 'Not sick. Not weak. Not even a little bit sick.' He crossed his arms.
Nitwit marched along the grassy track. Plants swayed and birds sang. Then his nose began to twitch. 'I will not sneeze,' he muttered. 'I will not...' A... A... ACHOO! The plants went flat and the birds fled, but Nitwit just kept walking.
Nitwit shuffled home. Cat was asleep in his hut. 'Do not fret,' Nitwit said. 'I am not sick, so I just need a nap.' A... A... ACHOO! Cat jumped up in shock and gave Nitwit a mean look. 'So much dust,' said Nitwit.
Nitwit went to see Dog, but Dog did not look well. He had a red, wet nose, and he was shivering all over. A... A... ACHOO! A wet mess went flying, and Nitwit ducked. He had never seen such a deep, wet sneeze. 'Yuck, Dog, go and rest in bed,' said Nitwit.
Back home, Nitwit was leaning on the wall. His arms felt weak. He felt odd and fuzzy. His nose felt like it was full of bees. 'I told Dog to sleep,' Nitwit mumbled. 'But I do not need sleep. I feel fine. I feel...' A... A... ACHOO! The sneeze beat him to it!
His bed was just there, with soft red sheets and a thick red blanket. Nitwit gave the bed a long, hard look. He crossed his arms and lifted his chin. He had told Dog to sleep, but he did not need sleep. 'Not sick,' said Nitwit. 'Fine. Fine.'
