This is Gad. Gad is a ghost in a dark, mossy, spooky wood. Gad is sad. He has no pal at all.
The monsters jump out and yell, 'Boo!' A man gets a big shock and runs off. 'Stop that fuss!' Gad tells them. 'That is bad!'
Gad floats up to a treetop and peeks out. He spots kids in the park, on the grass. 'Kids!' Gad grins. 'I wish to join in!'
Gad zooms to the grass. 'Kids! Kids! I'm Gad!' he yells. But the kids get a big shock. They dash off at top speed.
'Come back!' Gad calls. 'I'm not bad!' But the kids and a small dog run and run. Gad is sad and still.
Gad has a plan. He sits still in a nut stack at a stall. But that is no good. So Gad puffs up big and bobs at the next stall.
Gad drifts up to the kids. 'I'm not a ghost!' he tells them. But then a fluffy cat springs up at Gad!
The cat misses Gad! It flops flat on the grass. Gad grins a silly grin. 'Gad is so funny!' the kids yell. 'Come and join in!'
Gad spins and zips, and the happy kids run up the grassy hill with Gad. Then Gad spots a net. The kids grin at Gad.
'Gad, be the ball!' the kids yell. So Gad puffs up round. The kids toss Gad up, and Gad yells, 'Boo! I'm the ball!' The rest of the kids get a big shock.
Gad is the best ball ever. He spins and slips and zips off. The rest of the kids miss and miss. 'Stop, stop!' they yell. But the happy kids win!
At sunset, Gad drifts up to the treetops. 'Meet us here at sun-up!' the kids call. Gad is happy. He has pals at last. 'And next, I'm the football!' Gad calls back.
