Can You See Hope? UFLI Foundations Lesson 57
Practice Words
Pa tells the best tales at bedtime. He sips from a red mug, and I say, 'Tell me a tale, Pa.'
Pa says, 'This tale has a kid, Wisp. Wisp is made from wind.' I grin. 'That is a tall tale, Pa!'
Wisp likes to hide. Can a kid spot Wisp? No. But look at the pad. There is a dip in it!
In the rain, drops drip and slide off a shape. Look at that shape. It is Wisp!
Flakes land on Wisp. Kids stop and gaze at the flakes. A kid says, 'Look at that!' Wisp is so still.
Wisp picks up a wax stick in class. The wax stick makes a line all by itself! The kid at the desk yells and shakes.
'It is just me,' says Wisp. 'Do not yell.' So the kid dips a brush and paints a smile on Wisp.
'Fill my locks!' says Wisp. So the kid paints a cat and notes in the locks. Wisp grins. 'I like it!'
Wisp makes prints as she walks. Look at the prints on the path! Wisp does not hide. Not Wisp!
Wisp stands on a hill in the sunshine. Wisp is full of the stuff she likes. Now all can see Wisp shine!
'So,' says Pa, 'is it a tall tale?' I think and think. 'It is a fake tale, Pa.' Pa smiles and says, 'Time for bed.'
Pa shuts the door. But then it opens a crack! Who is there? No kid at all. I hide in bed up to my chin. Don't open that door! Don't open that door!
