Jill plods back and she looks bad. Her kit has a big crack in it. Dr. Can Do kindly hands her the last carrots. But the chest is empty. That is bad luck.
Dr. Can Do has a plan. He grabs a tool and sketches a nifty rig. A cactus can help the crops. He needs a cactus, and he needs it soon!
Dr. Can Do stands and looks far, far out. The land is hot and sandy. He grins and sets out briskly. He can get a cactus. It is not hard at all!
He sits up on the trusty mount, and it plods on and on. The trip is long and bumpy. But Dr. Can Do is not grumpy. He hums as the mount plods on.
The cactus is big, and it is very spiny! The mount steps back. Dr. Can Do taps the cactus. Ouch! It is sharp and prickly, and his hand stings badly.
He grabs the cactus with his coat and tugs. Ouch! His coat rips, and his hands sting. This is tricky. Then he picks up a tool and digs a long ditch in the hot, dusty sand. He digs and digs.
Dr. Can Do sets a boat in the wet ditch, with a chest in it. Then he swings at the cactus. Chop! The prickly blocks drop into the chest. That is very handy!
The boat bobs in the long, splashy ditch. Dr. Can Do sits in it and looks proud. Jill stands on the bank and grins gladly. That is a grand plan!
Back in the lab, Dr. Can Do sets up his rig. He hits the switch. Click! The rig hums, and crop aid drops out. It is a nifty, speedy rig!
Jill munches a carrot. Munch, munch! It is crunchy, and she is glad. But Dr. Can Do sits and sketches. He is crafty, and he has his next big plan!
