On the left side of the image, Big Sis lies confidently on a high tree branch, resting on her stomach with one arm dangling down and a calm, happy smile on her face. She has long, straight dark grey hair falling past her shoulders, a coral-pink headband with white cat ears, and wears a coral-pink sleeveless A-line dress. Below her, Little Brother hangs from a lower branch with both hands, legs swinging freely, with a wide-eyed, surprised expression as he tries to keep his grip. He wears an open red-orange hooded jacket over a light blue t-shirt, medium blue jeans, and dark navy sneakers with white soles. Green leaves drift through the air around them. The scene is set outdoors on a bright, sunny day with a blue sky, green tree foliage, and a grassy ground visible at the bottom. The right side of the image is plain white background.

It is true. My big sis is the coolest kid in all the land. She lies way up high on a branch in the big oak tree. One arm hangs down and sways. She hums a tune and does not fuss. I grab the low branch with both hands. My legs kick at the sky. 'Big Sis!' I yell. 'How do I get up there?'

Page 2
On the right side of the image, Big Sis stands on a large tree branch, smiling confidently as she holds up a toy aeroplane in one hand, looking up at it against the sky. Little Brother stands at the base of the tree below her, looking up at Big Sis with a happy, admiring expression. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day, with lush green foliage surrounding the large tree. The left side of the image is plain white background, leaving space for text.

Big Sis stands right up on the branch, like it is a path and not way, way up. She holds her toy plane up to the blue sky and squints at it. 'Look at this,' she says. 'The best fling ever.' I stand at the base and look up. One day, I think, I will be just like Big Sis.

On the left side of the image, Dog lies on the ground with a startled, dazed expression, with a crashed toy aeroplane broken apart into pieces and scattered red propeller parts around it. A dotted arc line in the sky above suggests the looping flight path the plane took before crashing down. The right side of the image is plain white background.

The plane loops up, up, up... then it goes askew... then down, down, down. Crash! It smacks the ground, and red parts fly all over. And right in the mess sits our dog. He blinks. Poor pup.

Page 4
On the right side of the image, Dog stands in the centre-right, barking with mouth wide open and a determined expression, facing toward a large tree. Big Sis leans against the base of the tree on the far right, looking down at Dog with a confident, unfazed expression and her arms crossed. Little Brother is perched up in the branches of the tree above, peeking down with a worried or uncertain expression. A toy aeroplane lies on the ground between Dog and the tree. The scene is set outdoors in a sunny suburban yard with green grass, bushes, and a clear blue sky.

Dog is not glad. He jumps up and barks his big, bad bark. The kind that says, I will not let this go. I grip my branch. My legs shake. But Big Sis? She just leans on the trunk and crosses her arms. 'Hush, Dog,' she says. 'The plane did not even hit hard. What a fuss.' Dog huffs and stops. Phew! Big Sis never flinches. Never.

Page 5
In the lower-left portion of the image, Big Sis is kneeling on the ground, leaning forward with a focused expression as she digs in the soil with a small garden tool. Little Brother sits beside her on the ground, looking up with a curious, wide-eyed expression. Behind them, Dog is leaping energetically into the air, tugging on a long rope with its mouth. The scene is set outdoors on a bright, sunny day in a yard or garden area with green trees lining the horizon and a light blue sky with stylised swirling clouds above.

'I need wood,' Big Sis says. She digs in the dirt with a little spade. 'And glue. And some string too.' I sit next to her. I do not know what to dig for, so I just look on. Behind us, Dog finds a rope. He leaps and tugs and growls and chews it. No one tells Dog to stop. No one ever tells Dog to stop.

Page 6
On the right side of the image, Big Sis stands confidently, leaning forward with a warm smile as she reaches out to pet Dog on the head. Dog sits happily in front of her, looking content with a wagging tail and its red collar visible. Little Brother stands just behind Big Sis, clutching her arm nervously with a worried, uncertain expression on his face, clearly less comfortable around Dog. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day along a dirt path with green bushes, a tree branch overhead, and a clear sky with soft clouds. The left side of the image is plain white background.

On the path back, Big Sis stops to pat Dog. 'Are we good now, Dog?' Dog wags his tail so hard his bum sways. I stand behind Big Sis and hold her arm. Dog's mouth is very big and very wet and very close to my face. 'Dog is tame,' Big Sis says. 'Dog wants a chew,' I whisper. 'And I am the chew.'

Page 7
On the left side of the image, Big Sis is tumbling forward onto the ground with a shocked, open-mouthed expression, her arms splayed out as she falls into a patch of dirt and scattered leaves. Little Brother is toppling over her back with a surprised expression, arms flung upward. Dog stands nearby on the right of the group, looking at them with a curious, slightly concerned expression. The outdoor scene is set on a grassy path under a pale blue sky with wispy clouds, with green leaves shaking loose from a nearby tree and drifting through the air. The right side of the image is plain white background.

Then Big Sis trips on a root. Down she goes! I hold her arm, so down I go too. We roll in the dirt. A few leaves fly up all round us. Dog just stands there and looks at us, like we are the silliest things ever. But does Big Sis cry? No way. Not even a bit.

Page 8
On the right side of the image, Big Sis stands on a dirt path holding a damaged toy aeroplane up in one hand with a determined expression, examining it closely. Little Brother stands just behind and to her right, looking up at the plane with a worried or curious expression. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day along a path lined with green trees and bushes, in what resembles a suburban park or neighbourhood trail. The left side of the image is plain white background.

Big Sis gets right up. She brushes off her dress and picks up the plane. She squints at the crack in the wing. Tap, tap. 'We can fix this,' she says. 'Some wood, some glue, good as new.' I have a scrape on my elbow and a leaf on my ear. I want to cry a bit. But if Big Sis does not cry, then no way will I cry.

Page 9
On the left side of the image, Big Sis stands at a kitchen counter with a cheerful, determined expression, stirring the contents of a bowl with a large spoon. Little Brother sits nearby at a small table, watching her with a slightly worried or uncertain expression and a small pout on his face. The scene is set indoors in a cosy kitchen with warm lighting, patterned tiles, and shelves visible in the background. The right side of the image is plain pink background with no detail.

No one is home to cook yet, and my belly growls like thunder. 'I will cook,' Big Sis says. She pulls a big book off the shelf and flops it open on the counter. 'I will brew us a big pot. A stew!' I sit and look on. Big Sis can do it all, I think. Lie on high branches, fix planes, cook stew. She could face down a storm.

Page 10
On the right side of the image, Little Brother peeks over the edge of a kitchen counter, with just his eyes and hands visible, looking up with a concerned, worried expression. He is watching Big Sis, who stands at the counter chopping onions on a cutting board โ€” her eyes are teary and her expression looks sad. The scene is set indoors in a bright kitchen with tiled flooring and green curtains visible in the background. The left side of the image is plain white background.

I put one foot on the stool and peek over the counter. And then I see it. It can not be true. Big Sis is crying. Real, wet drops roll down her cheeks. My mouth falls open. My big sis. The best in all the land. Crying?

Page 11
On the left side of the image, Little Brother is shown from the chest up with a thoughtful expression, resting a finger on his chin and looking upward as if remembering. Three circular thought bubbles float above and to the left of him, each depicting a memory of Big Sis: in one she is lying confidently on a tree branch, in another she is reaching out to pet Dog with a brave face, and in the third she is tumbling to the ground from her fall with a surprised expression. The background is a green-striped wallpaper pattern, with the right side left as plain open space.

It can not be right. I tap my chin and ponder. I need a clue. Big Sis never cries on a high branch. She never cries when Dog barks his big, bad bark. She did not even cry when she fell smack in the dirt! So what could make Big Sis cry?

Page 12
On the right side of the image, Big Sis stands behind a kitchen counter with a gentle, knowing smile, looking down at a halved onion on the counter. Little Brother leans in from the right, peering closely at the cut onion with a surprised, open-mouthed expression, his face near the counter surface. A whole onion and its sliced half sit on the green countertop, with green-striped wallpaper in the background indicating an indoor kitchen setting. The left side of the image is plain white background.

I step up close. Very, very close. Big Sis looks down at me, grins, and holds up half an onion. 'Onions,' she says, and shrugs. I squeal with glee and just about fall off the stool. Onions! Phew! Because Big Sis does not cry. Not if she falls off the moon. Not if the moon itself comes crashing down. Big Sis never cries.
