Create a single full-page children's book illustration. Use the attached character reference images and match each named character exactly β€” same shapes, colours and clothing; do not redesign them. SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) stands proudly in a swept courtyard by a painted cement house wall, one leg resting on his belly. A pair of trainers sits nearby. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the RIGHT. Keep the LEFT 50% text area genuinely open β€” plain, continuous background with NO characters, objects, props, hanging items, plants, patterns or decorations in it β€” while the rest of the scene fills the frame naturally. That LEFT 50% text area must be the SAME continuous background colour as the scene (not a flat panel, not a different shade, no dividing line). Do NOT shrink or squash the characters. Book text will be overlaid in the LEFT 50% text area. Do not include any written text, letters, numbers, captions, speech bubbles, signs, labels, logos, or watermarks anywhere; the image must be purely illustrative.

Anansi the spider has a big round belly. It is fat and smooth, as red as clay. He thinks it is the nicest belly, and he is proud. He aims to keep it that way forever. Then the chiefs set a big feast, and bad luck starts for Anansi.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) stands at the centre of a map-like forest, looking longingly toward seven villages across hills, river, and valley. Each village has a glowing cookfire with enamel serving bowls, metal stew pots, and curling food aromas. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the LEFT. Keep the RIGHT 50% text area genuinely open β€” plain, continuous background with NO characters, objects, props, hanging items, plants, patterns or decorations in it β€” while the rest of the scene fills the frame naturally. That RIGHT 50% text area must be the SAME continuous background colour as the scene (not a flat panel, not a different shade, no dividing line). Do NOT shrink or squash the characters. Book text will be overlaid in the RIGHT 50% text area. The big feast comes just one time in seven springs. All the towns have a feast, one town each day. The hill town first, the river town next, the low land town after that, and on and on. There is yam and hot nut stew and corn and so much more. Anansi fancies it all. The good smell is on the wind for days.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) stands scheming at a forest crossroads with his legs pointing different ways. Weaver Bird (match attached reference) sits on a branch above him, with red laterite paths, glossy leaves, and a bicycle leaning against a tree. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed in the lower part of the frame. Keep the TOP 50% text area genuinely open inside a smooth, low-detail gradient blur covering the TOP 60% of the image. Use only a plain, continuous continuation of the scene background there, with NO characters, objects, props, hanging items, plants, patterns or decorations. Keep all important characters and detailed scene content in the LOWER 40%, with only a soft natural fade into the blurred top text area. That TOP 50% text area must be the SAME continuous background colour as the scene (not a flat panel, not a different shade, no dividing line). Do NOT shrink or squash the characters. Book text will be overlaid in the TOP 50% text area. Anansi aims to eat at all seven feasts. That is the problem. The towns sit far apart, and all the feasts start at the same time. No one can get from one to the next in time. So the beasts pick one town and eat there. But Anansi can not decide. 'Eyes bigger than your belly,' says Weaver Bird. But Anansi just waves her off. He sits and thinks up a plan.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) is in his workshop, uncoiling Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; one long coiled rope being divided into seven equal lengths) with concentration. A low wooden stool sits nearby, coils spill across the floor, and a tin-roofed window shows seven forest paths radiating outward. By morning, Anansi decides on a plan. He gets the longest rope in the forest and cuts it into seven bits. He will carry one bit to each chief and say, 'When the feast is set, give this rope a hard tug, and I will come and eat.' Then he will stand in the centre, hold all seven ropes, and wait.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) sits in a forest clearing with Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; seven loose lengths tied around Anansi's waist and extending toward the villages) while he pats his belly. Plastic water buckets sit near a path. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the LEFT. Anansi takes the ropes from town to town, with his best smile. 'What a treat,' says each chief, and takes the rope. It is nice to have such a fine spider stop by. By the time Anansi gets back to the centre, he is tired. But the plan for seven feasts excites him. He ties all seven rope ends round his waist and sits to wait.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference) lounges in a clearing daydreaming, one leg behind his head in greedy confidence, with Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; seven loose lengths remaining tied around Anansi's waist while he waits). Dream-bubbles show feast tables with yam heaps, peanut soup in metal pots, and fried plantains on patterned tablecloths. Anansi waits and waits. He plans the order he will run: hill first, then river, then the low land. 'I will just taste a bit at each feast,' he tells himself. Then he grins a big grin. 'No! I will eat the full feast at each one!' He is so excited that he claps, thinking how each chief will look. Anansi has no clue what is coming his way.

Anansi has no clue that this harvest is the best in a long, long time. All the towns finish the cooking fast. Each chief looks at the hot, hot food and thinks: if we tug first, Anansi comes to us first. All seven chiefs glance at the feast. All seven chiefs grin. All seven chiefs grab the rope at the same moment.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference; his formerly round middle is being permanently pinched into a thread-thin waist) is hurled into the air as Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; all seven ropes pulled taut simultaneously with their knots intact) pull tight around his middle in different directions. Dust bursts below him, and motion lines streak from every direction. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the LEFT. Tug, tug, tug! All seven ropes go tight at the same time. Seven chiefs pull seven ways, and the force hits Anansi hard in his round belly. He flies up. He spins like a top. He makes a sound no spider will make twice. The ropes do not snap. They hold fast, since Anansi ties them so well. That is the problem.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference; his body has two rounded sections separated by an extremely constricted waist) is at the forest centre, trying to shout as Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; all seven ropes stretched taut in different directions) pull him toward distant villages. At each rope end, a village chief tugs beside a feast mat, metal cooking pot, or painted courtyard wall. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed in the lower part of the frame. Anansi is pulled east and west and north and south, up the hills and to the river, all at one time. Each rope is tight. Each chief tugs hard. Anansi tries to yell for help, but it comes out as a tiny squeak, since his belly is pinched in so tight now. He winces as the ropes squeeze him. Tighter. And tighter. And tighter still.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference; permanently transformed into two round body sections joined by a thread-thin waist) lies spread-eagled on red earth for a very long time, looking up at the sky beneath Seven Festival Ropes (match attached reference; all seven ropes slack after the chiefs release them), then slowly sits up, looks down at himself, and sighs. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the RIGHT. At last the ropes go slack. All seven chiefs let go at the very same moment. Anansi drops to the ground like a stone. He lies there a long, long time, looking up at the sky. His belly, so round and fine before, is now pinched in at the centre. It is just a round bump at each end and the thinnest waist. Anansi sits up. He notices his new shape. He sighs.

SCENE: Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference; permanently transformed into two round body sections joined by a thread-thin waist) arrives too late at several village feasts, passing empty tables, doused cookfires, and sleepy animals patting full bellies. At the final village, Weaver Bird (match attached reference) perches at eye level and points at his waist. COMPOSITION: Compose ONE full-bleed scene with a single continuous background that fills the whole image, characters at natural size placed toward the LEFT. By the time Anansi gets to the hill town, they have eaten. At the river town, the pots are packed up. At the low land town, the kids are in bed. He finds empty stands and full, sleepy beasts patting round bellies. At the last town, Weaver Bird notices him come in late. She glances at his waist and says it one more time: 'Eyes bigger than your belly.' She means his waist now.

SCENE: Grandmother steadies a child’s overloaded bowl at a feast table with patterned cloth and enamel dishes. Around them are small scenes of Anansi (round-bellied) (match attached reference; shown in a montage with both his earlier round-bellied body and his later permanently thread-thin waist) spinning while being pulled, sitting at empty tables, and watching from a corner. Anansi goes home hungry, since there is nothing left to eat. His round belly is no more, pinched into the thin waist all spiders carry. It tells us that no one can be in seven places at one time, and that greed can get you nothing. When a kid piles a bowl too high, Gran sets it down and says: 'Eyes bigger than your belly.' Now you have a clue where that saying comes from.
