Practice Words
The sun is hot. A man has a nice big melon. Anansi has a plan, and he gets in it.
He has a snack. He gets big and fat. He is stuck in this place, and he can't get back.
The man taps his melon at the fence. Anansi hides. He is still, but he has a plan.
'What a big, big leg!' calls the melon. Elephant gets a shock, and off she runs at a fast pace.
A big mob is at the fence. 'The melon can talk!' yells a lad. Anansi grins and grins.
Men lift the melon on a cloth. It must go to the King, and the man winces.
The men set the melon on a stand. 'Talk!' says the King. Anansi grins, and he takes his chance.
'Add spice to the pot!' calls the melon, and it is ace. The King grins, but the man is not glad.
Then Abena casts a glance at the melon. 'What do I think?' she asks, and all is still.
The King has a mad face. 'Off with it!' he yells, and he tosses it fast.
Smash! The melon cracks, and off rolls fat Anansi! He rolls twice, and the mob grins at him.
He walks back on the path and picks pips off his legs. Since then, the man checks his fence and his land.
