A family gathers outside a stone house with a red roof. Children and adults stand near a doorway while a spotted dog sits nearby.

Hi! My name is Spot, and I am Jane's dog. It's time for Jane to take me for a walk. But today she takes me somewhere special. 'We're going to the zoo, Spot!' she says. The zoo! I've always wanted to go there!

A girl with pigtails in an orange jacket sneaks through a park, looking thoughtful. In the background, a family with a spotted dog plays near a building.

Jane buys a ticket and leads me inside the zoo. There is so much to see and do. 'I want to see every animal in here!' says Jane. That's what I want too, but I want to see them first! I run ahead to see if I could beat her to it.

A spotted dog peers out from underneath furniture in a dark room, looking curious with droopy ears.

But soon I realize that Jane is not behind me. I don't know where Jane went. I think I am very lost. There are so many people in the zoo. But I have to find her.

A spotted dog with tail raised peeks around the corner of an orange brick wall. Long dark hair flows from the other side.

I wander the zoo, looking for Jane. Up ahead, I see something long and brown. It looks like hair. Jane has hair like that! I think I've found Jane! I start barking, excited to see her at last.

A spotted dog crouches playfully near a wooden fence while a brown horse with a dark mane looks down at it from its pen.

Oops! This isn't Jane, or Jane's hair! It's a horse. Horses can have long brown hair too. The horse wonders why I am barking at him. I back away, looking as sorry as I can be. Where can Jane be?

A spotted dog runs happily inside a blue net enclosure. A pair of hands reaches toward the net from outside.

I walk a little further and I see a place with lots of trees. There are nets between the trees. Maybe people climb on them? Just then, I see a hand! Could it be Jane's hand? It looks very much like it.

A brown monkey hangs upside down from a tree branch, reaching toward a blue net where a spotted dog peeks through.

Oops! That's not Jane's hand. It's a monkey's hand! People and monkeys have very similar hands. The monkey waves at me, and I wag my tail back. Where can Jane be?

A spotted dog walks near a circus tent entrance. A person in a pink skirt stands beside the tent with warm lighting glowing inside.

I walk through the crowds of people, trying to see Jane. There are so many of them that I can't see that far in front of me. Suddenly, I see something! A flash of yellow and brown. That looks like the shirt Jane was wearing! I run towards the shirt!

A tiger sleeps peacefully in its zoo enclosure with a stone wall and metal railing visible in the background.

Oops! It’s not Jane's shirt. It's a tiger, and it is right in front of me! It is still asleep, and has not seen me. I run away before it decides to have dog for lunch! Where can Jane be?

A young girl with braided hair in a pink floral shirt reaches toward a spotted dog who lifts its paw in greeting near a brick wall.

I am tired now, and I think I have been to every place in this zoo. I come to a big brick wall with a big fence in it. There are lots of people here, but I can just see something behind it. Oh! That looks like Jane's bag! Have I found her at last?

Page 11
A crocodile lies in its enclosure while silhouettes of people watch from behind a chain-link fence in the background.

Oops! That's not Jane's bag. It's a crocodile! I am glad I didn't go inside the fence. But I hear something from behind me. 'Where can you be, Spot?'

A girl with dark hair in a striped shirt chases a spotted dog across a grassy field surrounded by green bushes.

That sounds like Jane! It is Jane! She has been looking for me, too! I run into her arms, barking and licking her face. 'I'm glad to see you too, Spot!' she says. Now we can see all the animals together!
