What Made Sis Sob? UFLI Foundations Lesson 68

Big Sis is up on a branch. She can relax up there. Max hangs on and kicks his legs. 'Big Sis is the best!' he yells.

Big Sis gets up on the branch with a plane. 'This is the moment,' she says. 'Have a look, Max!' Max looks up and grins.

The plane spins and drops. Crash! It is broken. Bits of the broken plane are on the grass. Dog is by it in shock.

Dog is mad. Yap, yap, yap! Max grips his branch. But Big Sis is not even upset. 'Stop it, Dog,' she says.

'We can fix the plane,' says Big Sis. 'We must begin.' She digs in the mud with a spade. Max sits and has a look. Dog tugs on a rope and will not quit.

Big Sis pats Dog. Dog wags and wags. Max grips Big Sis and hangs back. 'Relax, Max,' says Big Sis. 'Dog is a pal.'

Then Big Sis trips! She falls flat in the mud. Max falls on top of Big Sis. Dog just looks at them. But Big Sis does not cry. Not even a bit.

Big Sis gets up and grabs the broken plane. 'We can fix it,' she says. Max has mud on his legs. He wants to cry. But Big Sis does not cry, so Max does not cry.

Big Sis and Max go back in. 'I can make the dish,' says Big Sis. 'It is so basic.' She grabs a big book. Then she mixes and mixes. Max sits and has a look.

Max steps up and looks over the bench. Big Sis is crying! Wet drops fall. Max is silent with shock. Big Sis is crying?

Max taps his chin. He recalls it all. Big Sis does not cry up on a branch. Big Sis does not cry when Dog yaps. Big Sis does not even cry when she falls flat in the mud! So what can make Big Sis cry?

Max steps up close. Big Sis grins and lifts the cut bulb. 'It is the bulb!' she says. Max grins a big grin. So that is the secret! Big Sis does not cry. No, not Big Sis. Not even a bit!
