The Cat Is Hiding! UFLI Foundations Lesson 73

Jess sits up in bed. 'Where is my cat?' Jess calls. 'Kit is not on the pad!' But look! Sly Kit hides at the base of the bed.

Jess runs to the path by the fence. 'Kit! Kit!' Jess calls. Why did Kit go? But look! Sly Kit is just behind the fence.

Jess checks the big pot. Kit naps on top of it a lot. Jess taps the lid. No cat! But sly Kit hides behind the pot.

'My cat is lost!' says Jess. 'This is so bad!' Jess wants to cry. But look! Sly Kit sneaks by the pot. Jess did not spot Kit.

Jess checks the big plant. A twig pokes Jess. No Kit in the plant! But look! Sly Kit hides at the base of the home.

'Mew!' Jess stops to check. Where is that cat? Kit is up on top of the home! Kit can spy on Jess from up there.

Jess checks the gap at the base of the case. Just dust and one sock. No cat! But look up! Sly Kit sits on top of the case, spying on Jess.

Jess gets up on the step. Jess checks the top of the case. No Kit! But Kit hides in the gap at the base. Why is that cat so sly?

Jess checks all the books, one by one. No Kit. Jess is trying and trying to find that cat. 'This is not a gag, Kit,' says Jess. Jess is so sad.

Jess checks the gap by the bed. It is dim in there. No cat! 'Why, why, why?' says Jess. 'Where can my cat be?'

Jess stands and thinks. 'I did look at all the spots,' says Jess. 'My cat is lost. I must get help.' Then Jess looks back at the bed.

Jess lifts the blanket. It is Kit, snug in the bed! Kit has shades on. 'Kit! My cat!' says Jess. 'What a sly, sly cat!'
