That Hive is Mine! UFLI Foundations Lesson 62
Practice Words
This is Ned, and this is The Book. One bee zips past, and Ned gazes up at it.
Ned gives chase. The bee zips past the tall plants, but it will not stop.
The bees have a nest up in a tall plant. Ned gazes up. 'I smell honey!' he says.
Ned grabs his ax and grins a big grin. 'Stand back! The honey is mine!' he yells.
'Stop, Ned!' yells The Book. 'Do not chop the nest! The bees will wake up and sting!'
'Smoke will make the bees doze,' says The Book. 'Then take the honey. No ax, Ned!'
Smoke rises up to the nest, and the bees doze off. Ned stands still with his snips.
Ned snips the nest, and the honey drips and drips. 'It shines!' says Ned. 'Quick, Ned!' says The Book. 'Take it and run!'
Back at home, Ned is at his bench. He makes a nest with blocks and wax. 'This will be a fine home for the bees,' he says.
Ned sets the nest by his home and plants a rose. 'The bees will like this place,' says The Book.
Ned lifts up the rose and smiles. 'Come with me, bees,' he says. The bees like the rose!
The bees love Ned. They love him so much! They buzz at him and bump him. 'Get off! Get off!' yells Ned, and he runs. The Book winces.
