Sloth is so sleepy today. His mouth gapes. 'I must nap,' says Sloth. 'I must seek the best spot to nap.'
Sloth spots a tall tree. 'That may be the spot,' he says. Up he creeps. Sloths do not rush, so it takes till midday.
Sloth hangs from a branch and grins with joy. 'This is the spot,' he says. He shuts his lids to sleep.
Chomp! Giraffe bites at the moss on Sloth's coat. 'Stop it, Giraffe!' yells Sloth. 'I am not hay!' Up he scampers in dismay.
Sloth creeps up to a new branch and hugs the trunk. 'Hooray! This spot is safe,' he says. He shuts his lids to sleep.
Buzz, buzz! A beehive hangs on the branch. Bees zoom by Sloth. 'I can not stay,' says Sloth. 'The bees may sting me.' Off he creeps.
Sloth peeks up. A long green tail sways on the branch. 'Is that a tail?' he asks. 'I hope it is a good tail.'
Sss! 'Go, Sloth, go!' yells Snake. 'This branch is my spot!' 'Mayday!' gasps Sloth, and up he zips.
Sloth is so sleepy. His feet drag. Then he sees a free branch. 'I pray this is the spot,' he says. 'I just wish to nap.'
Ha, ha! A loud one perches by Sloth and yells all day. 'That annoys me,' groans Sloth. 'Stop, loud one, stop!'
Sloth creeps up to the very top. It is quiet up there. 'Hooray! This is the spot!' he says with joy. He shuts his lids, and there he stays.
The day ends. Sloth naps at the top. The loud one is quiet, and Snake rests on a branch. 'Is there a spot for me?' asks Giraffe. Nobody says a thing. They all doze.
