Practice Words
Two-syllable words where 'es' is added to form plurals, creating an extra syllable.
Meg is a vet. She fixes the leg of a cub.
The cub can run on the leg when it is all better. He thanks Meg as he leaves.
Meg has run out of one of her herbs. she will need to get more to do her job.
Meg rushes out with her bag to look for more. She can't be away for too long.
But it is a long way to where the plant grows. Meg dashes along the path as fast as she can.
Then she meets a sick ape. He needs her help, so she stops.

Meg goes past a big rock where the large birds nest. She can see that one of them has quite a sore leg.
Meg is a vet. She must stop to help. She binds the sore leg and tells him to rest.
Meg hasn't gone far when she sees a fawn stuck in vines. She stops again to free the fawn.
Meg wants to make sure no other animals fall into the same trap.
But while she clips the rest of the vine back, the fawn eats the herbs in Meg's bag.
Meg asks the ape and the bird for help. She needs to get back.
They are glad to help their vet, and she is back home in no time.
