Practice Words
The sun is bright. Jim runs on the path with Dash. 'Come, Jim, come!' yells Len. 'Come and see this!'
Len lifts up a shiny red sailboat. 'See my boat!' he yells. Jim squints at it in the bright sunlight. He wishes he had one.
'That is fine,' says Jim, 'but I have the best stuff in the land!' Len squints at him. Jim might be telling a big fib.
Back in his room, Jim peeks in his toy box. An old frog and an old game. Jim sighs. This stuff is not grand at all.
Then, ping! A lightbulb! Jim has a bright plan. 'My kin have grand stuff, Dash,' he says. 'Let us go on a raid!' Dash wags his tail.
Jim grabs a big pot plant and runs. Dash trots by his side in the sunlight. 'Len has no plant as high as this!' says Jim.
Next, Jim scoops up the wool and twine. So soft and bright! Dash sniffs at the twine. He might grab a bit if Jim lets him.
Then Jim spots Dad's game on the shelf. Dad likes this game a lot. 'It might be the best game there is,' says Jim with a grin. He grips it tight.
Jim lifts up a high stack. Books, books, books! The top book has a sly fox on it. Silly Dash has a box stuck on his top.
In Mom's room, Jim pops on a big hat and red high heels. He peeks at his silly face and says ha! Dash has a yellow scarf on, tight as can be.
Len packs the hat back in the trunk. Jim's pal packs the plant. 'This is not your stuff, Jim,' says Len. Jim smiles, but his cheeks go pink. He sighs. It is true.
'My perfume!' yells Mom. 'It is not here!' Jim, Len and the pal get a big fright. Not one boy says a thing.
The pals hunt and hunt. Len checks the shelf. Jim's pal peeks by the bed. No perfume in sight! But Dash sniffs by the seat. His tail wags.
Dash sniffs it out! There is the perfume, by the seat. 'Yes!' yells Jim, and he hugs Dash tight. 'Dash is the best thing I have!' Len and the pal clap and clap.
