Today Ted sets off to a party. He has a cane in one hand, and he grins a big grin. Cat peeks out at Ted. Cat will come as well.
'Wait, Ted!' Kim yells, and she runs up. 'Can I help? Do not get lost!' 'No need, Kim,' says Ted with a grin. 'I go this way all the time. I can tell the way.'
Ted stops at the corner. He lifts his chin and sniffs. 'This way,' he says, and he goes right. Kim gasps. 'Ted can tell the way!'
Sniff, sniff! 'Fish!' says Kim. 'Yes,' says Ted. 'The fish shop! If I smell fish, I go right. The smell tells me the way.'
Ted stops and pats the old stone wall. 'I pat this wall all the time,' he says. 'It tells me the way. I go left here.' Cat peers at Ted from the top.
'Look out, Ted!' Kim yells. 'A big wet patch!' But Ted just steps round it. Not one drop on his feet. Hooray!
Tap, tap! 'My stick can tell,' says Ted. 'It taps the wet patch, so I go round it.' 'Yay!' says Kim. 'So smart, Ted!'
Woof, woof! A big dog barks at the gate. Cat jumps up on top! 'Look out, Ted!' Kim yells. But Ted just grins. 'That dog barks all day. It tells me to go left.'
'I can tell this time!' says Kim. 'The dog barks, so Ted can tell the way!' Ted nods. 'Yes! Smells and sounds tell me the way all day.'
Ted stops and sniffs. 'Cake!' he says. 'We are not far.' Kim sniffs as well. 'I can smell it!' she yells with joy.
'Hooray! Hooray!' Kim yells. 'This must be the party!' Ted has a gift box, and he grins. 'See, Kim? I can tell the way.' Cat sits by Ted, glad as can be.
Inside there are trays and trays with cake and food. Ted and Kim sit with the kids. Such a fun day! 'Ted,' asks Kim, 'can we get back home?' Ted grins. 'Yes. We just sniff for fish!'
