I Choose That Home! UFLI Foundations Lesson 83
Practice Words
Min has a big basket of mangoes on her back. Min must bring them far, far off. Then Min stops. A tall home is up on stilts! A ladder runs up and up. 'I want that house!' says Min.
Min walks on and stops at a shop. This shop is a home too! Hot dishes are on the table. A woman serves them with a grin, and kids sit by the plates. 'A hot dinner at home!' says Min. 'I want that house!'
At the corner, Min sees a big home up on stilts. Kids run and dart under it. It is like a party! Two people look on. A little pet curls up for a nap. 'So many kids!' says Min. 'I want that house!'
Min sees a stand full of crops. It is a little market in the sun! A woman smiles at her stand. A man picks a bunch, and a kid on a bike waves. 'All the crops in the world!' says Min. 'I want that house!'
Now Min is by a big block of flats. The homes are stacked up, one on top of another! Up in one flat, a woman works at her stitcher. A girl stands close by and looks at every stitch. A shirt and a skirt hang on a rack. 'She can make a shirt!' says Min. 'I want that house!'
Then Min stops. What is that rumble? Under this home, a man works hard on a big bike. His kit hangs on the wall. A kid rolls a tire, and a little dog looks on. Min sets the basket on the path. 'A big bike at home!' says Min. 'I want that house more than all the rest!'
Then the path ends at the water. A home bobs there, just off the shore! Kids are on the deck. One kid has a net, one sits at the edge, and one stands by the plants. 'What?!' yells Min. 'They can fish at home! I want that house!'
The task is done, and now Min is in class. Miss taps the photos with her stick. 'Every home is a good home,' says Miss. Min sits at a desk and remembers every one. Hands go up all over the class.
'Which home is best, Min?' asks Miss. Min grins. 'Not hard! I want that one, and that one, and that one, and that one!' The class giggles. Every home is perfect.
