On the left side of the image, Pang stands on a wooden platform built around a tree trunk, holding a conductor's baton in one hand with a slightly nervous but determined expression β€” wide eyes behind round black-rimmed glasses and a small, uncertain smile. His pale yellow body and cream-and-black striped abdomen are visible, along with his black bow tie and translucent light blue wings. Behind him, a woodland neighborhood is visible with multiple tree stumps and trunks fitted with small wooden platforms, shelves, and tiny structures forming an insect-sized village among tall trees, green grass, and wildflowers below. The scene is warmly lit in soft daytime light, with the right ~40% left as plain warm beige background.

Pang the bug has a big job. A big, big, belly-flip job. He will lead the show by the old oak, and all the bugs in the wood will come. Pang grips his stick and steps up on the stage. 'I can do this,' he says softly. 'Maybe. I think.' His wings shake. His specs slip down. The show is in five days, and Pang must lead it.

On the right side of the image, Pang is shown in multiple vignettes directing a concert rehearsal. In the lower-center panel, Pang stands with mouth open and one arm raised, gesturing expressively next to a wall calendar, with musical notes floating around him. In the upper-right panel, Pang stands at a music stand looking frustrated and determined, while a small cicada hovers above him looking confused and bewildered. The left ~40% of the image is plain warm yellow background. The scene is set indoors in a bright, warmly lit rehearsal space.

The song team sings a test song. It is a mess. The low voices sing high. The high voices sing low. One bug flaps round and round up high. 'Am I a low voice or a high voice?' she asks. 'I forget.' 'A high voice!' Pang yells. He points at the day chart. 'Five days to go! Five!' But the bugs just chat and play. Pang groans.

Page 3
On the left side of the image, a small cicada stands at the bottom left, holding an open songbook and singing softly with eyes half-closed and mouth open, with musical notes floating around. Pang, larger with round black-rimmed glasses and translucent light blue wings, leans in from the upper left, peering down with a curious, encouraging expression. The scene is set indoors in a warm, sunlit room with a mirror on the wall, a small alarm clock on a blue side table, and the edge of a bed with striped sheets visible. The right ~40% of the image is plain warm beige background.

The next day, Pang goes to see a bug who sings softly. Pang leans in. 'Sing loud,' Pang says. 'The bugs must know the dry time is here.' The little bug goes pink. 'But what if the crowd groans at me?' Pang smiles. He knows how that feels. 'No groans,' he says. 'They will yell wow! I vow it.' 'Then I will try my best,' the little bug says softly.

Page 4
On the right side of the image, Pang stands on a round wooden stage built around a large tree with red blossoms, looking anxious with wide eyes and an open mouth as he gestures to gather the other cicadas. Several cicada choir members with translucent wings are arriving β€” two are flying up onto the stage, one hovers nearby below, and two more perch in the tree branches above. The outdoor scene is set on a warm, sunny day with blue sky and green grass visible beneath the elevated wooden platform.

The days get hot and dry. Pang stands on the round stage by the big tree with red blooms. 'All to the stage!' he calls. 'This is it! The last test before the real show!' Bugs fly in from all round and land in rows on the stage. Pang's belly flips. Will the show go well? Pang hopes so.

Page 5
On the left side of the image, Pang stands in the foreground with eyes closed and a contented, slightly surprised smile, listening to the choir practice. Behind Pang on the left, a large group of small cicada choir members stand together on a raised outdoor stage beneath a tree with reddish blossoms, each holding open blue songbooks and singing. Musical notes float through the air around the scene. The setting is a bright, sunny outdoor park or yard with green grass and small orange flowers dotting the ground.

The team opens the blue books. Pang lifts his stick. And they sing. The low voices go low. The high voices go high. No bug is mixed up. No bug flaps in rings. The song flows out and floats past the trees. Pang grins a big grin. 'They did just what I said,' he says softly, a bit in shock. Maybe, just maybe, this show will be grand.

Page 6
On the right side of the image, Pang lies in bed at nighttime with eyes open and a pale, worried expression, holding a small conductor's baton in one hand. The scene is a cozy bedroom bathed in soft blue-purple nighttime lighting, with a calendar pinned on the wall above showing days crossed off leading up to the concert. A glowing firefly hovers near the ceiling acting as a nightlight. A small bee stuffed toy sits on the bedside table beside Pang.

That night, Pang can not sleep. He grips his stick in bed. A bug glows by him like a night light, and the day chart shows one day to go. 'What if I forget the first beat?' Pang asks his toy bee. The toy bee does not speak. 'What if my stick zips out and bumps a bug?' Still no sound. It is a toy. But Pang chats on.

Page 7
On the left side of the image, a lively crowd of insects gathers on a sunny, grassy clearing in a forest setting, with a tree stump visible in the upper-left corner and scattered brown fallen leaves on the ground. A beetle stands in the upper-left, raising one arm and looking excited with wide eyes. A green caterpillar, a worm, a small brown bug, a ladybug, and two snails are scattered across the grassy area, all walking or crawling toward the center with curious, eager expressions. In the lower-right edge, another green caterpillar wearing a blue scarf peeks into the scene, looking upward with a smile. The right ~40% of the image is plain warm beige background for text overlay.

The big day comes, bright and dry. Bugs from all parts crowd the green glen. A shiny bug hops up and down. 'It is the first show for the chap with the stick!' A bug in a blue scarf frowns. 'His first? Let us hope he does not mess it up.' Pang hides by the stage and gets each word. His belly turns and turns.

Page 8
On the right side of the image, Pang stands at the front of a wooden outdoor stage, eyes open wide with an energetic, determined expression, mouth open calling out 'One, two, three, sing!' as he holds a conductor's baton raised high in his right hand. Behind him on the stage, a choir of cicadas stands in rows holding open blue songbooks, singing with wide-open mouths. Musical notes float through the air. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day with green grass and a warm golden sky.

Pang flies out on the stage. No more hiding, no more panic. It is time. The team stands with the blue books. Pang lifts his stick high and calls, 'One, two, three, sing!' And wow, how they sing! The low voices growl. The high voices shine like sunbeams. The song flows down the glen and up the hill. It is the best sound in the wood. All is just right.

Page 9
On the left side of the image, Pang stands in the front of a group of cicadas on an outdoor stage, clutching a soggy blue songbook with both hands and looking shocked β€” wide eyes, pale face, and mouth slightly open β€” as rain begins to fall on him. Several other cicadas stand behind and beside Pang in rows, also holding blue songbooks, with worried and confused expressions on their faces. Rain streaks fall across the scene, and the right ~40% of the image is plain warm beige background.

Then a wet drop plops on Pang's brow. Drip, drip, drip. Rain! Rain at the dry time show! 'That can not be,' says a bug. 'It is the dry time. Rain must not come now!' But the rain drips on and on. It soaks the blue books. It soaks Pang's glasses till he can not see. The voices dip and moan. The crowd starts to frown. Pang's chest goes cold.

Page 10
On the right side of the image, Pang hovers in the air with translucent light blue wings spread wide, facing outward with a determined, commanding expression and large round eyes behind his glasses, as if addressing all the insects below. Below and around him on the right, several smaller cicadas stand on wooden steps or on the grass, holding blue songbooks and looking up with worried or surprised expressions. Scattered across the grassy ground are other forest insects β€” a butterfly, a snail, and a caterpillar β€” appearing anxious. The left ~40% of the image is a plain warm tan/beige background. The scene is set outdoors on green grass with light rain falling across the scene.

The crowd panics. Bugs curl up, and snails tuck in. Pang peers up. The clouds are thin, and he can see blue sky. This rain will not last. But if the crowd flees now, the show ends. So Pang does a very brave thing. He flies up high, right up past the crowd. 'Bugs!' he bellows. His voice rings out so loud that each bug stops and gazes up.

Page 11
On the left side of the image, Pang stands confidently in the foreground at the bottom-left with a determined, cheerful expression, holding a conductor's baton and waving it with a sharp flick of his wrist as he addresses the crowd. Around him on the left, several insect characters are gathered on a grassy outdoor stage area in light rain β€” some hold tiny umbrellas, others look up with happy, relieved expressions, cheering. Cicada choir members stand behind Pang with blue songbooks raised, ready to sing again. The right ~40% of the image is plain warm beige/tan background with no characters or detail.

'This rain is thin, and it will pass!' Pang calls from up high. 'The dry time is here, and this show goes on!' For one beat, all is still. Then the shiny bug jumps up high. 'Yes! The show goes on!' The crowd shouts, and the bug in the blue scarf claps. Pang zooms back to the stage and flicks his stick. 'From the top! One, two, three, sing!'

Page 12
On the right side of the image, Pang stands in the foreground grinning proudly with a pink-tinted complexion, arms slightly outstretched as if presenting the concert. Behind Pang, a group of cicadas are gathered on and around a large tree decorated with twinkling string lights, singing joyfully with music notes floating in the warm orange-toned air. The scene is set outdoors at golden hour with the tree as the concert stage, and a few cicadas flutter nearby with their wings spread. The left ~40% of the image is plain warm orange background.

The last note ends, and the rain stops. The sky glows gold. The big oak shines with wee lights, and the crowd yells and yells. 'Pang!' says a bug. 'That is the best show this wood has had!' Pang goes pink, and his glasses fog up. He tries to act shy, but his grin grows wide. 'Wait till the next show,' Pang says. 'I have a plan. Snow!' The team groans.
