Go Home, Animals! UFLI Foundations Lesson 79
Practice Words
Bam! Bam! Bam! Skel sits up in bed. It is dark. Thump, thump, thump! What is that?
In the morning, Skel stomps to the farm. Llamas! They stomp and hop in the yard. 'Go home!' yells Skel. The llamas do not stop. They just stomp more.
Skel lifts an arm. 'March off my farm!' he yells. The llamas ignore Skel. One llama munches on the crops.
The next morning is bad. More llamas! They fill the yard and the path. Skel starts to add them up. He stops at forty.
'Zom! The llamas munch on the crops,' says Skel. 'They munch on the garden!' Zom is with the pigs. 'Let it rest until lunch,' says Zom.
Skel goes back to the farm. Part of the crop is gone. Munch, munch, munch. 'That is a lot of llamas,' says Skel.
Zom has a plan. He gets cords for the llamas and starts to march. The llamas march behind him in a line! 'That is so smart!' says Skel.
The farm is still. Skel stands on the shore of the pond. No stomps. No munching. 'It can't last,' says Skel.
The llamas come back. All of them, and more! They charge into the yard. They honk and stomp. They can not forget this farm.
Skel marches in with arms up. 'Go! Go! Go!' he yells. The llamas spit at Skel. Lime, sticky, stinky spit! Skel slips and sits in the gunk.
Zom gapes at Skel. Skel is a mess of lime spit! Zom starts to grin. 'Do not grin at me,' says Skel. He is sore and sad. 'Come inside,' says Zom.
Inside, Zom dabs the gunk off Skel. He has a mix in a jar. 'We can't chase them off,' says Zom. 'So what do we do?' asks Skel. Zom grins. 'The llamas can help us on the farm!' Skel grins. 'That is a smart plan.'
