Cats and Crabs <oi> <oy>

Deb calls for her cat to come in from the yard. The cat will not come. So Deb goes to see.

The cat has found a hole in the soil. Who has made it?

Ah. It is a crab. It has a flat shell and big claws.

Deb thinks the crab might need a meal. So she gives it some of the cat's food.

It is not a toy. She must take care not to get a nip.

Next time Deb looks, there are a lot of small crabs. The crab is a mum now.

Deb keeps all the small crabs moist. They do like to be wet.

Then one day, all the crabs got out.

Deb tries to pick them up and put them back.

But the small crabs dig so fast in the soil.

Soon they are gone. 'I think they like the cool holes,' Deb says.

She puts the mum crab back in to the soil too. She can stay moist on her own.
