Practice Words
'My duck is fast,' says Jill. 'Duck can win the big race.' 'That duck?' says the kid. 'It looks a bit strange.'
'Look at this!' says Jill. Duck flaps and kicks. Duck lunges up off the grass. The kids gape. 'That is not fast,' says the kid.
Jill and Duck run up the hillside. They run and run. Duck changes bit by bit. Duck gets swift! 'The big race is next,' says Jill.
It is the big race. Jill rubs Duck on the neck. 'Duck can win,' she says. The kid has a huge grin. 'That duck can't win!' he yells. The kids just smile.
Honk! The race is on. The flock zips up fast. Duck flaps and lunges up as well. 'Go, Duck, go!' yells Jill. And look at that! Duck gets fast!
What a change! Duck zips past the flock. One duck, five ducks, ten! 'That is my duck!' yells Jill. All the kids jump and yell.
Duck zips past the line. Duck wins the race! The kids chant, 'Duck! Duck! Duck!' The kid blinks and blinks. 'Strange,' he says. 'That duck is so fast!'
Jill hugs Duck. A huge, huge hug! The kids rush in to pat the champ. The kid grins. 'Well, that duck is fast.'
