A Tall Tale

This is my Pa. He likes to spoil me with tales. Some are tall tales.

He says that he will tell me a tale of a girl made of air.

She can hoist herself up on a chair and not be seen.

You might see her if you are out, and it starts to rain.

In the snow, the flakes rest on her head. Kids point at the odd snow.

The girl made of air goes to school one day.

A boy asks if he can put some paint on her to see her face.

The girl loves it! He gives her hair full of the things that she likes best.

The girl made of air starts to paint herself all of the time.

She feels like the paint shows the world who she is.

I ask Pa if it was a tall tale. He asks what I think.

I say, I think it is a tall tale. He smiles and leaves. But then, I hear a noise…
