Who Is in the Shrub? UFLI Foundations Lesson 58
Practice Words
Kit sniffs at this spot. What is that smell? Fumes puff up from a big bush. Who is in there?
'A pig!' Kit yells. Pig is a crude mess of mud, and fumes come off him.
Kit runs off the hill. 'Come on, dude!' Pig runs with a big grin, and bugs chase him.
'Go in the mud, Pig!' says Kit. Splash! Pig jumps in like a brute, and Kit gets all wet.
Kit is up in the big plant. 'Come up, Pig!' she calls. But Pig just sits, like a mule. What a grump!
Kit sits in the grass and sings a tune. Pig makes a big din. It is a bad song, but it is fun.
The sun sets. 'Come home with me, Pig,' says Kit, 'but we must be quick. Mum must not smell the fumes.'
Kit and Pig step in the hall. They track mud as they go. Pig makes a small, rude din. 'Hush, Pig!' says Kit.
Kit dabs red on Pig's lips. Pig grins and grins. What a cute dude!
'What is that rude thing?' yells Mum. 'It is my pet pig!' says Kit. 'In the tub, quick!' says Mum.
Kit and Pig get in the tub. They use lots of suds and scrub and scrub. Bit by bit, the mud drips off.
It is not a pig. It is a cute pug! The pug licks Kit, and Kit grins. 'My pug,' says Kit.
