On the right side of the image, Steve stands at the edge of a small pool in an underground lush cave biome, looking down with curiosity at Axolotl swimming in the water below. The cave is dimly lit by glowing light sources scattered nearby, with lush green moss and vegetation covering the rocky walls and ground. Axolotl is floating in the shallow pool alongside a second axolotl, both paddling gently in the water.

Steve had seen every distant cave. He had been up every tall hill. He had been down to the deep sea. He had seen it all. Nothing could surprise him now. Then one day he found the cave with the bright green moss. 'Wow,' Steve whispered. He crept to the edge of a hidden pool. Two little axolotls stared up at him with big, silly grins. 'What are you?' Steve asked. They just kept on smiling at him.

On the left side of the image, Steve stands in a Minecraft-style lush cave environment, looking down with a determined expression at Axolotl, who is sitting on the ground at his feet. The scene is set in a dim underground cave with stone walls, hanging vegetation, and glowing fire/torches above providing warm light. The right ~40% of the image is plain light blue background.

Steve bent down low for a closer look. One axolotl did not swim away. It did not hide. It did not distrust him at all. It climbed right out of the pool. Then it sat at his feet like a wet little dog. Steve had never seen such a thing. 'Well,' Steve said. 'I think you picked me, buddy.' The axolotl just smiled back at him.

On the right side of the image, Steve kneels on a grassy ledge beside a pond, smiling as he carefully holds Axolotl in both hands. The scene is set outdoors next to a stone cliff face, with calm blue water surrounding the grassy bank. The left side of the image is plain light teal background, clear for text overlay.

Steve took the axolotl all the way home. He held it close in the long, dark tunnels. He walked it over the green hills. He walked it down to his own little pond. 'Your new home, buddy! Go on in!' He knelt down and held the axolotl out over the water. The axolotl looked at the pond. It looked back at Steve. It looked very disappointed.

Page 4
On the left side of the image, Steve stands at the edge of a pond, tossing handfuls of moss onto the rocks and dirt around the water with a focused expression. The pond is bordered by grass and stone blocks, with patches of fresh green moss growing on the rocks nearby. A wooden fence is visible in the upper-left background. Axolotl swims in the shallow water nearby to Steve's left, gliding through the soft, cool flow. The right ~40% of the image is plain light blue/teal background, clear for text overlay.

'Fine, fine, I get it. Too plain. Hold on!' Steve scooped up big handfuls of moss and tossed them on the rocks. He packed it in every little crack. He tucked it behind every stone. He did not miss a single spot. He took a step back, panting, with dirt all over his hands. The axolotl slid into the water, wiggled once, and smiled wide. It was not disappointed now. Steve jumped up high and let out a yell. 'Yes! I knew you would love it!'

On the right side of the image, Axolotl stands on a rocky ledge inside a dimly lit cave, grinning excitedly toward a newly appeared white axolotl nearby. The cave environment features stone and dirt blocks with small patches of vegetation, viewed from a slightly elevated angle. The left side is plain light blue background for text overlay.

That night, Steve could not sleep. He sat up in the dark, distressed. What if his axolotl was lonely? He took his axolotl and raced back to the cave. There, glowing bright and still, was a white axolotl. His axolotl found it first. Its grin got so wide it lit up the dark cave. 'You want that one?' Steve said. 'Say no more.'

Page 6
On the left side of the image, Axolotl and White Axolotl float together in a small pool of water built from blocky stone walls, in a Minecraft-style scene. The two axolotls are swimming side by side with happy expressions, their feathery gills visible, nestled in the clear blue water. The pool sits on a grassy outdoor area under a bright, warm sun in a clear sky. The right ~40% of the image is plain light blue background for text overlay.

Steve took the white axolotl home. The two of them slid into the pond together. They bumped noses and swam in slow, happy loops. They splashed and played a sweet little game. Each axolotl had its own distinct grin, but they swam side by side like best friends. They floated in the sun like two tiny, smiling pancakes. 'I did that,' Steve said. He felt very proud.

On the right side of the image, Steve stands on a grassy ledge beside a pool of water near a rocky cliff face, looking excited with a happy expression. He is holding a small bucket with a fish (clownfish) in it. Axolotl is visible peeking out of the water just behind Steve, grinning at him with a cute expression. The left ~40% of the image is plain light teal background, leaving clear space for text overlay.

Steve held a bucket and scooped up a fish. 'Wait till my friends see this!' he said. 'They are going to flip!' He spun around to show off his find. Right behind him, the axolotl had its head out of the pond. It had a wide, silly grin. 'Stop that!' Steve said with a smile. 'You will distract my friends from my big show!'

Page 8
On the left side of the image, Axolotl and White Axolotl are swimming and playing together in a blocky, Minecraft-style pool of blue water, viewed from above at an angle. The water is bordered by green grass blocks and stone brick walls in the upper left corner. Both axolotls appear relaxed and playful, splashing and floating in the water with happy expressions. The right side of the image is plain light turquoise background, clear for text.

Steve never did show his friends. Every time he tried to leave, the axolotls did something new. A splash. A spin. A belly flop so small it made just a tiny ripple. They would disrupt every plan he had. Steve sat down and watched them play instead. 'Fine,' he said. 'You win. This is better than any day I have ever had.' The axolotls smiled. They always smiled. But this time, so did Steve.
