Trust The Tricky Book UFLI Foundations Lesson 76
Practice Words
Ned stands by his little shed. 'My shed is so drab,' says Ned. 'I wish it had flowers by it.' 'I have a plan,' says The Book.
Ned and The Book go up a path. It is a sunny day. 'We must find the odd sand,' says The Book.
Ned finds a big patch of odd mud in the sand. He digs at it. 'Yuck, it is so sticky!' says Ned.
Pop, pop! Little mud balls pop up. Ned grabs plenty of them. He fills all his pockets up.
Ned holds a mud ball by the hot box. The mud gets hot, and then it is a solid red brick! 'It is like a little bit of gold!' says Ned.
The Book opens up flat. 'Make a pot from the bricks, Ned,' says The Book. 'It is a simple plan.'
Ned makes two little pots and sets them by the shed. 'The pots are empty,' says Ned. 'I must go find flowers.'
Ned is happy. He picks plenty of flowers in the grass. Then, buzz, buzz! What is that hum?
The bees are mad! Ned runs and runs. The bees buzz behind him. 'Run, Ned, run!' calls The Book.
Ned is safe in the shed. One bee sits on the grass. 'That was a silly plan, Ned,' says The Book. Ned pants and nods.
This time Ned is sly. He picks flowers where no bees buzz. He fills up the pots, and they look so nice. 'Lucky me!' says Ned.
The shed is not drab now. Ned is so happy with his pots. 'Ned, why not make a big home next?' says The Book. 'Yes!' says Ned. 'We can do it!'
