Tip Turns to the Smell Jolly Phonics · Step 2, Unit 11: er, ir, ur as in her, bird, turn

Tip wakes up first. She lifts her nose and sniffs. Snowflakes swirl past the window. 'Snow!' Tip yells. 'Snow falls from the sky!'

Brat Cat is curled up by the lamp. 'Wake up, Brat Cat!' Tip yells. 'Snow swirls outside!' Brat Cat blinks. 'It is dark,' says Brat Cat. 'Dark is for sleep. Go back to bed.'

They go outside. All is white! Snow swirls down, soft and thick. Fig Pig grins at the houses. But Tip bursts past them in the snow. 'This is the best smell ever!' Tip yells.

Tip stacks big snow balls and makes a snowman. She steps back, so proud. Then Tip sniffs. A sweet smell drifts by. She turns. 'What is that smell?' Back by the hut, Brat Cat smirks.

Fig Pig grins by the tree. Pink, blue and green lights glow in the snow. Brat Cat looks at the snowman and smirks. 'It tilts!' Tip sniffs. 'That sweet smell is back,' she says.

Tip lifts her nose up high. The sweet smell swirls in the cold wind. 'The smell comes from the hills!' Tip yells. She turns and dashes off in the snow.

Tip runs down the snowy hill. There in the snow is a little sweet house! It has candy on the walls and a soft glow. Tip gasps. Up on the hill, Brat Cat smirks a big smirk.

Brat Cat hugs Tip and Fig Pig. 'That house is from me!' says Brat Cat with a grin. 'It is my big Christmas gift!' Tip grins wide. 'It is the best smell ever!' Snow swirls in the night.
