The Troll on the Kite UFLI Foundations Lesson 63
Practice Words
Splash, splash! The rain splashes on the glass. Jen wishes and wishes for sun. At last the rain passes. The sun is up! Jen dashes to the grass.
Jen gazes up. Lots of kites! A big kite has fangs. A fish kite dips and dashes. Jen grins. 'My kite will be best,' she says. 'My kite has a troll queen!'
The sides of a kite have to match. Jen checks this side. Then she checks that side. She checks them two times! If the sides do not match, the kite crashes. Smash!
Jen makes a plan. Then she cuts the shapes. Snip, snip! She uses lots of tape. She presses the tape flat. She fixes each bit till it is just fine.
Next, the string! Jen rushes with it. It passes the plant. It passes the dishes. 'This string is so long!' Jen yells. A long string can go way up!
Jen takes the kite up on top of the home. The troll queen is on the kite. She has a big grin and a grand hat. Jen tosses the kite up. 'Go up past all the kites!' she yells.
The kite dips! It flips and it swishes. 'No, no, no!' says Jen. Then a big gust lifts it. The kite rushes up! It passes the fish kite. It passes all the kites! 'Go, troll queen, go!' Jen yells.
The kite is up, up, up. The troll queen dances in the wind. She is the queen of all the kites! Make a kite! Add a long string and a big grin. Then let it go up, up, up!
