The Sad Girl's Song UFLI Foundations Lesson 76
Practice Words
Ivy sits by the glass and makes a soft song on the flute. The song is sad, and drops drip on Ivy's face. Why is Ivy so sad?
The sad song drifts from the glass. The notes fly up past the branch. A gust lifts the notes into the sky.
Up in the sky, the notes cry. Drops fall, one by one, into the sky mist. The sky mist fills up. Then it cries as well.
Drip, drop! Rain falls on Brown Rabbit. 'That is odd,' says Brown Rabbit. 'It was sunny.' Black Rabbit huddles beside Brown Rabbit at the trunk. Pip tucks in by the plants.
Gold tilts to Bee. 'Bee, a sad song made this rain,' says Gold. 'I am wet and soggy. Go, Bee! Find who makes the sad song.' So Bee buzzes off into the sky.
Bee finds Pip up in the sky. 'Pip, all the drops are from a sad song,' says Bee. 'Who is so sad?' asks Pip. 'We must find who it is,' says Bee.
Pip lands on a branch by Brown Rabbit. 'Brown Rabbit, help us!' says Pip. 'Help us find who makes the sad song.' Brown Rabbit dashes off fast, past the fence and up the hill. Pip flaps and flaps.
Brown Rabbit finds Ivy up at the glass. Ivy is crying, flute in hand. 'Why so sad?' calls Brown Rabbit. 'I miss my mum and dad,' says Ivy. 'The song helps a bit.'
Ivy runs to the grass. Black Rabbit jumps into Ivy's lap. Brown Rabbit snuggles at Ivy's side, and Pip lands by Ivy's neck. 'We are friends, Ivy!' says Pip. Ivy giggles and hugs them all.
Ivy sits in the sunny grass with two rabbit friends. Pip rests on Ivy's arm, and Bee spins by Gold to make Ivy giggle. Ivy is happy. The sun is back, and so is Ivy's smile.
