The Book Said Dig UFLI Foundations Lesson 55
Practice Words
This is Ned. He has a fine shed on the hillside. Ned stands and smiles in the sunshine.
Inside the shed, The Book flips up. 'It is time to dig, Ned!' it says. 'Dig?' asks Ned.
Ned crafts a spade at the bench. Snap, snap, snap! 'I made a fine spade!' he grins. 'I like it a lot.'
Ned spins the spade in the sunshine. 'Where can I dig?' he asks. 'Dig in the sand,' says The Book.
Ned digs in the soft sand. He digs a wide pit. 'I like this!' he says with a big smile.
Ned digs and digs at the hillside. In no time the pit is quite wide. Ned grins with pride. 'I like to dig!'
Clang! The spade hits a big rock. The rock shines, but it will not crack. 'A spade can't smash rock, Ned,' says The Book. 'Rock is not like sand.'
Ned stands in the pit with The Book. 'What can crack rock?' he asks. 'It is time to craft, Ned,' says The Book.
The Book flips to a plan. Ned crafts at the bench. He takes his time to get it just so. He likes this job.
'It is a pickaxe,' says The Book. Ned lifts it up with pride. 'A pickaxe can smash rock!' he grins.
Ned strikes the rock. Crack! It smashes to bits. Ned grins a wide grin. 'I like this pickaxe!'
Ned sits and smiles in his fine cave. The lamps shine. The Book flips to a plan. 'Dig, Ned, dig!'
