That Is Not a Rope! UFLI Foundations Lesson 64
Practice Words
Pip the mouse got to a big home. He landed on the sill, sniffed, and smiled. 'No cat and no dog,' said Pip. 'This home is for me!'
Pip got up on the desk and gazed at the pens and pages. Then. A rope! 'What a fine rope!' said Pip. He pulled it and pulled it.
The rope held fast. So Pip bit it. Crunch! 'Stop that!' yelled a small thing. 'That is my tail!'
Pip looked back. 'I am Click,' it stated, 'and I am a mouse.' 'No,' said Pip. 'You are not a mouse.'
'I am a mouse!' Click yelled. 'I click, I scroll, I can help!' 'You have no legs,' said Pip. 'That is daft.'
'Can you get me a snack?' asked Pip. 'And a big bad cat is in this home. Can you help me hide?' 'A cat can not vex me!' Click stated. Pip gulped. 'Fine,' he said.
Pad, pad, pad! A big cat got up on the desk. It hunted for Pip. It gazed at him and smiled. 'Click!' yelled Pip. 'Help me! Fast!'
The cat jumped at Pip. Bam! It banged on the desk. 'Click, help!' yelled Pip. 'I am on it!' called Click. Pip sprinted off.
Then the lit box blazed on. A huge dog was on it, and it blasted out, 'Ruff! Ruff! Ruff!' The cat was dazed. It dashed off the desk and did not stop. Click smiled. 'See?' said Click. 'A mouse can help.'
Pip lifted Click up in a big hug. 'Click, what a mouse!' said Pip. 'The best mouse,' said Click. Pip smiled. 'Yes. The best mouse.'
