On the right side of the image, Tall Girl stands leaning forward with a smile, watching eagerly alongside Boy, who is bent over with hands on his knees looking excited, and Girl in Yellow Dress, who stands beside them looking on with curiosity. On the lower left, Girl stands smiling proudly, holding Duck in her arms as it spreads its wings, ready to take flight. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day along a dirt path with green bushes, grass, and distant mountains under a bright sky with scattered clouds.

'This,' says Girl, holding up her duck, 'is the fastest duck in town.' Duck opens its wings and puffs out its chest. Her friends lean in for a close inspection. Boy bends down and squints hard. They all stare at Duck. Duck stares back. 'That duck?' says Boy. 'It does not look fast. Not one little bit.'

Page 2
In the lower-left of the image, the children are gathered on a sunny grassy field watching Duck attempt to take flight. Duck is in the centre-bottom of the image, wings spread wide and kicking its feet as it lifts off the ground with a wobbly, unsteady motion. Boy crouches low in the bottom-left corner, smiling and gesturing toward Duck with one hand outstretched. Girl in Yellow Dress stands nearby on the grass, looking surprised with wide eyes and mouth slightly open. Tall Girl and Girl stand together at the very bottom-left, both smiling and watching Duck's flight attempt with excitement. The top half of the image is plain bright yellow-green open sky and grass with no characters or detail.

'Watch this,' says Girl. Duck flaps. Duck kicks. Duck wiggles and wobbles and lifts one foot off the ground. Then the other foot. Then Duck hangs in the air. Its wings flap in slow motion, but Duck is up. Her friends gasp. Boy points. 'See?' says Girl. 'Flying.' 'That,' says Boy, 'is not flying. That is falling. Just very, very slowly.'

Page 3
On the left side of the image, Girl is running energetically across a grassy hillside, one arm raised high and a big, excited grin on her face. Just ahead of her, Duck is sprinting forward with wings fully spread, beak open, racing alongside Girl. The outdoor scene features a gentle green slope with small tufts of grass, backed by clusters of trees and warm golden-yellow foliage, with the right side of the image opening to plain light background.

But Girl does not listen. Every morning, she and Duck run the hills. Girl sprints. Duck sprints harder, wings out, beak open, honking with each step. They race up slopes. They race down slopes. Girl is on a mission. She is going to win. 'Faster,' Girl pants. 'The Big Flock Race is this weekend.'

Page 4
On the right side of the image, Girl stands in the foreground smiling warmly as she gently rubs Duck on the neck, holding the duck close to her. Duck stands beside her looking alert and ready. Behind them in the background, Boy, Tall Girl, and Girl in Yellow Dress are grouped together, watching with excited, cheerful expressions — Boy is waving his arm in the air enthusiastically. The scene is set outdoors on a sunny day in a suburban neighbourhood with houses and greenery visible in the background, suggesting a casual race gathering on a grassy area.

It is race day. Girl rubs Duck gently on the neck. It is their tradition before each big race. Duck lifts its head and stands very still. Girl leans in close. 'You can do this,' she whispers. 'You are faster than you look. A lot faster than you look.' Behind them, Boy waves his arms and yells, 'Girl thinks her wobbly duck is going to beat the flock! My prediction? The flock wins!' The other kids giggle. Girl just smiles and keeps her eyes on Duck.

Page 5
On the left side of the image, Girl stands in the lower-left corner with her arms stretched wide open, looking up with a determined, encouraging expression as she cheers on Duck. Three other children stand behind Girl on the left side, also with arms outstretched, cheering. In the sky above, Duck flies out in front of a flock of other ducks, wings spread wide with speed lines trailing behind, racing ahead of the group. The outdoor scene is set on a bright, sunny day with green grass, a path, and a tall pole in the background.

The starting horn blows. A flock of sleek racing ducks shoots into the sky. Right behind them, wings pumping hard, beak out, Duck launches after them. 'Go, Duck, go!' Girl yells, arms open. The other kids yell too. Then they gasp. Boy's prediction is wrong! Duck is not falling behind. Duck is getting faster.

Page 6
In the lower right of the image, Girl stands with her arm raised high, pointing excitedly at the sky with a wide, thrilled expression on her face. She is surrounded by a crowd of other children who are also looking up and cheering. In the sky on the left side, Duck soars far ahead of a flock of other birds, wings fully extended, zipping past them with speed lines behind it. The other birds trail further back, clearly falling behind Duck. The outdoor scene is set in a bright, sunlit grassy meadow with green bushes, a pond, and trees in the background.

Duck does not just catch the flock. Duck passes the flock. One duck. Two ducks. Five ducks. Ten. Duck zips past them all. 'No!' says Boy. His jaw drops. Girl pumps her fist and points at the sky. 'That is my duck!' The crowd jumps to its feet and gives Duck a huge ovation. Because the wobbliest duck in town is the fastest duck in the sky.

Page 7
On the right side of the image, Duck crosses a white finish line with wings spread wide, running triumphantly on an outdoor dirt path through a suburban neighbourhood on a bright, sunny day. Other racing birds trail behind Duck on the left side of the path, having lost the race. Behind Duck in the centre-right, Girl jumps and cheers with arms raised, her mouth wide open in shock and delight, surrounded by a crowd of spectating children and adults waving colourful banners and flags. Megaphone speakers on poles line the route, giving the scene a festive community race-day atmosphere.

Duck crosses the finish line first. The other birds are not close. Duck wins! First place! Girl jumps so high she almost flies too. The crowd goes wild. Kids chant, 'Duck! Duck! Duck!' It is one grand celebration. Boy just stands there and blinks. 'But... but that duck is so slow and wobbly,' he whispers.

Page 8
On the left side of the image, Girl stands at centre holding Duck in her arms in a tight hug, beaming with a wide, triumphant smile. Tall Girl stands close beside her, laughing and reaching toward Duck with both hands in a congratulatory gesture. In the lower left, Girl in Yellow Dress cheers with one arm raised high, clapping and grinning excitedly, while Boy pumps his fist in celebration with a big smile. The scene is set outdoors among green bushes and warm golden light, suggesting a sunny afternoon. The right ~40% of the image is plain white background.

Girl scoops Duck up into a huge hug. Her friends rush over, laughing and cheering, and reach out to pat the winner. Boy pumps his fist and grins the biggest grin of all. 'Fine,' he says. 'Fine. My prediction was wrong. That duck is fast. That duck is the fastest duck in town.' Girl laughs and laughs. That is better than any prize. She holds Duck tight and whispers, 'Told you so.' Duck quacks.
