Practice Words
High in a tall tree there is a tree hut. Monkey lives there. Monkey hangs by one hand in the bright sunlight. He likes bananas so much!
Monkey wakes up. His belly is loud. But his bananas are not there! He looks and looks. No bananas in sight. 'A crook took my meal!' Monkey cries.
Monkey spots a wee bee by the vine in bloom. 'Bee! Did you take my bananas?' he calls. The bee just grins. 'Not me! I am too slight to lift them!'
Then Monkey sees Snake, up high on a branch. 'Snake! Did you take my bananas?' he asks. 'No,' Snake hisses. 'I eat rats, not bananas.'
Monkey swings on a vine. He is not upright at all! His belly groans. 'I will try to spy the crook,' he cries.
Monkey stands on his deck. He clenches his fists tight. 'The crook will get a fright tonight!' he shouts.
Then Monkey spies a trail on the grass. A bright trail in the sunlight! Bananas, one by one. 'I spy a clue!' he calls. 'I have got the crook!'
The trail ends at Rabbit. Rabbit sits on the grass with all the bananas. What a sight! 'Rabbit!' Monkey shouts. 'You stole my bananas! You are the crook!'
Rabbit just grins and points at a plant. 'No, no. This is my banana plant. The bananas are mine.' Monkey sighs. Rabbit is right!
Then Rabbit ties a big bright bunch to the vine. 'Take this bunch, Monkey!' Rabbit says with a smile. Monkey grins. Rabbit is so sweet!
Monkey stands on the ladder with his bunch. 'But did a crook come in the night?' he asks. Rabbit smiles. 'Think back, Monkey. Think back to last night.'
Then Monkey sees the peels. Peels all by the rail! 'It was me!' he cries. 'I ate them all at midnight! I am the crook!' Monkey grins a big grin.
