Cactus Cannot Be Hard UFLI Foundations Lesson 80
Practice Words
Jill is back. Her kit has cracks in it. She is upset. Can Do looks in the chest. He offers her the last golden bits. 'Grab them, Jill,' he says.
Can Do has a plan. He grabs his paper and sketches fast. 'Cactus can make bone meal,' he says. 'Bone meal makes crops pop up fast. What a super plan!'
Can Do looks over the hills. The sand is far, far off. 'I will go and get cactus,' he says. 'After that, I will be back for supper.'
Can Do sits in the saddle. He is a rider! 'This trip will be quick,' he says. 'I will grab a cactus and be home for supper.'
The cactus is big. It is bigger than Can Do! He taps it. 'Ouch!' he yelps. 'It is sharper than a fork!'
Can Do grabs the cactus with his lab top. Ouch! The top gets holes in it. So he digs a long ditch in the sand. He digs harder and harder. A blister pops up on his hand. But he never stops.
Can Do fills the ditch. A craft bobs in it. He sets a chest under the cactus. Then he hits the cactus with his hammer. Crack! The cactus drops into the chest. No hands, no ouch!
Can Do drifts home in his craft. The chest is full of cactus. Jill stands on the grass. 'A ditch and a craft!' she yells. 'What a super plan!' Can Do is a winner!
Can Do flicks the switch. The rig hums. Cactus drops in at one end. Bone meal drops from the other end. 'Yes!' he yells. 'It runs!' The farmer grabs the bone meal and runs to his crop.
Jill stands by the glass shed. She munches a fresh golden bit. 'Yum, yum!' she says. Can Do sits and sketches on his paper. He has a plan. He will never, ever stop!
