A Snug Hut for Us! UFLI Foundations Lesson 64
Practice Words
Pip strolled past a big trunk at dusk. He longed for a bed. 'I must get a small spot to rest,' he said.
Pip gazed at a big box. It was packed with cats! 'No room! No room for Pip!' the cats chanted. Pip was sad, but he walked on.
Pip lifted the lid of a big trash bin. Blink, blink! A black cat sat in the bin. Pip was dazed.
'This is my bin! No room for Pip!' the black cat yelled. He shut the lid with a clang. Pip had no bed yet.
Then big wet drops pelted Pip. Splat, splat, splat! He sat in the plants and gazed up. He got wet, so wet.
Then Pip looked up. A hole! It was up at the top of a home. He braved the wet wall and scaled it. He pulled and pulled and did not stop.
Pip landed on the deck and rested. It was not wet up there. But the big drops did not stop. What of the cats and the pup?
Flash! Bang! Crack! A big flash blazed. The cats and the pup were wet by the fence. 'Get safe!' Pip yelled. 'Run!'
Flames blazed up from the box and the bin! The cats and the pup dashed up the path. Pip waved from the gate and called, 'Run up! Quick, quick!'
'Pip! Can we rest up there?' the pup asked from the fence. Pip smiled. 'Yes! There is room,' he said, and he pulled them all up.
They all rested up top, packed in snug. 'We are sad we said no room for Pip,' the cats said. 'Do not be sad,' said Pip.
They all dozed, snug in one small spot. Pip smiled. There was room for all of them.
