Where Is My Shoe? (3+ syllables)

I am a caterpillar, and this is the worst day of my life. I have lost something very important to me. My shoe! Where is my shoe?
Yesterday, I had it. Today, it is gone. I woke up and it was not there. Has someone stolen it? It is hard to walk without it. I need to ask everyone. Where is my shoe?
I asked Frog about my shoe, and she said she hasn't seen it. Why would she? She spends all day in this pond. Anyway, she is kind, and offered to help me. She has an extra shoe, and she said I could borrow it. Maybe it will work?
Oh dear. This shoe will not help me at all. It is a shoe used for swimming all day in ponds, just like Frog! If I try and walk with this on, I will probably trip and fall over! Embarrassing!
I try Grasshopper next. He hasn't seen my shoe either. It could be anywhere! He is nice, and offers to lend me one of his spare shoes. At least he is a bug like me, right? It should fit me, right?
Wrong! It is too big for me! And, it is far too narrow. It makes my foot itch. I will give this back to Grasshopper and try someone else.
Crab! Crab is fun, surely he can help me. He has not seen my shoe either, but I will try on one of his shoes just to see if it fits. I hope it does, I am getting extremely tired of not having the right shoe!
Nope. Crab's shoes are too sharp because they are for digging in the sand. I don't need to dig, I am a caterpillar. I am a very, very, tired caterpillar.
I am so tired that I just want to curl up on a leaf and have a big nap. Maybe when I wake up, I will find my shoe, and this terrible day will be over. Good night!
I feel so strange, it is like I am changing. Why is my skin so hard all of a sudden? I feel like I am growing. Is this just a terrible dream? Wait, what are these?
Wings! I feel wings, coming out of my back! Maybe I am not a caterpillar anymore. Maybe I have changed into something else? I can't wait to find out what that is!
A butterfly! Look at me, I'm a butterfly! I am glad I lost my shoe. I will never need shoes again! Who needs shoes when you can fly?
