But the pencils in the box are scared. 'I don’t want to get out of the box,' says the red pencil.
'Come on, Shawn is in bed. It is safe to come out,' says the blue pencil. They are still scared, but they get out of the box.
On the desk, the pencils see a big book. It is full of things that Shawn has drawn. But they have no colour.
'They look so dull with no colour,' says the red pencil. 'You can help them. Let Shawn use you to draw,' the book says.
The pencils were not scared. 'We should go back in the box so Shawn can use us,' they say.
The next day, Shawn takes out the pencils and starts to draw. The pencils are glad to help.
When Shawn goes to bed, they look at what they have drawn. 'Wow! So much colour!'
The pencils want to draw more, so they draw on their own! Shawn will be so glad.
