I am an ambulance. I was made to go fast so I can get there first and save lives. But Mr. Chow seems to drive me very slowly and carefully. I get frustrated.
Mr. Chow does everything slowly and carefully. Even when he washes me. I am getting bored with everything being so slow and careful. It would be nice to have a driver that wants to take me at speed down the streets.
Then one morning, I get my wish. A new paramedic has started. He looks young and fresh. I bet, he will want to go speeding through the town.
The new driver does like to go fast. He puts on the siren, and we zoom past all the other cars at the lights. This is what I was made for. I'm so glad, I finally get to test my motor on the city roads.
But soon, I get sick of hearing my loud, wailing siren. It makes so much noise. I'd be happy to turn it off.
Then the new driver takes me down a narrow track. It is not a good tar road like the center of the town. It's rough and bumpy. I think we need to slow down.
The new driver does not slow down, and he is not careful. He drives me over a big bump, and I come down hard on my wheel. It snaps off and goes rolling away.
If I wasn't so tired, I would laugh at the new driver chasing after the wheel.
I am a mess. They have to tow me back to the ambulance depo. I miss Mr. Chow.
The mechanic fixes me up as good as new.
Mr. Chow is back.
Now, I am glad to go slowly and carefully through the middle of the city. It is much safer, and we still get there first.
